MIP on Fire in 5 Classes at HRH Shootout! (#rccar #rcnews)

MIP tools & products for Team Associated and Kyosho were hot across 5 podiums at Hot Rod Hobby Shootout! The three-man MIP Factory Team each started strong in qualifying & progressed to the A-Mains. After winning a qualifying heat and an 18.530 lap time comparable to the worlds top racers in Pro 4 Short Course, MIP/Matt Olson TQs and Wins 3rd in Expert 2wd SCT! MIP/Eustace Moore wins a qualifying heat in Sportsmans SCT, and after winning 2 heats and qualifying just 4 seconds under TQ, MIP/Brandon Upshaw Wins 3rd in 2wd Stock Short Course No Timing! The greater sponsored MIP Team Racers were on fire: AE/MIP Hartson TQs with 1st Place Victory in 2wd Modified Buggy and Wins 2nd in Modified Truck; MIP/Matt Gilbert Wins 2nd in Expert 2wd Stock SCT Class; MIP/Brian Halverson Wins 3rd in 2wd Stock Truck and 2nd in 2wd Stock Short Course!

MIP was among the world's best-of-the-best racers with over 300 entries at this weekend's 15th Annual Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout in Saugus, CA.  This three day event in Triple A-Main Format was well attended despite the almost triple digit temperatures, and likely also enjoyed by many with air conditioning via worldwide simulcast on LiveRC.  It was hot weather and tough going on the dry ran blue-groove track, but each of the three-man
MIP Factory Team came out the gate with winning qualifying heats making the A-Mains in each class entered and, along with the greater MIP Race Team, filled the podiums in five classes!

The most spectacular win came at the hands of highly promising Team Associated Driver and newest MIP Race Team member, AE/MIP/Steven Hartson in his career-making first major 1st Place and Overall TQ Win in
Pro Class Open 2wd Modified Buggy, with legends AE/Ryan Maifield close behind in 2nd and TLR/Dustin Evans in 3rd!

AE/MIP/Hartson also won 2nd in Mod Truck, after battling with Kyosho/Jared Tebo who took the win and TLR/Evans who took third!  Hartson knows the value of using the proper tools - MIP Hex Drivers and MIP Speedtip Power Tool Inserts, that is! Hartson's skilled performances along with his ProAm Challenge win this weekend established him as heir-apparent for Team Associated and MIP is proud to welcome him to the MIP Race Team!

In Pro 4 Short Course, MIP Factory Team/Matt Olson won the Round 2 qualifying heat running Losi SCTE with MIP Pro4mance Package #12200, ahead of Travis Amezcua, Tanner Denney, and others...his impressive fastest lap of 18.530, swifter in qualifying than Dakotah Phend, Jorn Nueman, and others helped build the confidence that the MIP Factory Team can be competitive on a world class level with MIP performance products!

In the Expert 2wd Stock SCT Class, MIP Factory Team/Matt Olson won TQ in Qualifying!  New addition to the MIP Race Team, MIP/Matt Gilbert ultimately took 2nd Place trophy to 1st Place Michael Guzman, with MIP/Olson, running the Team Associated SC10 2wd equipped with MIP C-CVD Kit #09128, MIP Ball Diff Kit #09130, MIP Aluminum Top Shaft/Gear #09108, and MIP Bypass1 Kit #12110, taking home the 3rd place trophy and his place on the podium!

Second Place 2wd Stock SCT winner MIP/Gilbert was running prototypes of the upcoming MIP C-CVDs for Kyosho #12153 on his Kyosho Ultima SC-R.

MIP/Brian Halverson, of the MIP Race Team, also running prototypes of the upcoming MIP C-CVDs for Kyosho #12153 won 3rd in 2wd Stock Truck 17.5 No Timing alongside winner Kevin Motter and Brent Bisbee in 2nd.

MIP Factory Team's Brandon Upshaw, just recently back racing since his ROAR membership expired in 2004, put aside his MIP engineering hat and started the weekend strong winning both Round 1 and Round 2 qualifying heats in 2wd Stock Short Course No Timing!  MIP/Upshaw qualified 2nd fastest, just 4 seconds under TQ, and ultimately won the 3rd Place Overall trophy alongside Brent Bisbee in 1st, and MIP/Brian Halverson in 2nd.  MIP/Halverson was running prototypes of the upcoming MIP C-CVDs for Kyosho #12153.  MIP/Upshaw was running the Team Associated SC10 2wd equipped with MIP C-CVD Kit #09128, MIP Ball Diff Kit #09130, MIP Aluminum Top Shaft/Gear #09108, and MIP Bypass1 Kit #12110.

MIP/Eustace Moore, Jr. also had a good start winning the Round 1 qualifying heat in Sportsman 4wd Short Course running MIP products for the Kyosho Ultima SC-R.  Eustace was very pleased with the presence and performance of MIP products and MIP Team racers.  Eustace concluded, "We knew this would be a high speed competition - it looks like our preparation allowed nearly our entire MIP Team to make the A-Mains in multiple classes. MIP is really happy with our results, we learned a lot, and plan to translate what we have learned into more new great products and setups so that racers can use our products with confidence and go home with the gold!"

MIP's Eustace Moore Jr., center, was pleased to see many of its supporters onsite such as Robert Ibon of Upgrade-RC Graphics, on left, and Gil Losi, Jr. of AKA Tires & Wheels, on right.
